Do Your Own Negative Thoughts Hold You Back?

When it comes to taking control of your life and obtaining all the things you desire, there is no better tool to use than visualization. Not matter your goals, whether it’s shedding excess fat, quitting smoking, or just improving your fitness routine, visualizing your success is key.

Very often, our own negative thoughts disrupt our well-being. In most cases, people are completely unaware that they even have these thoughts. Subconsciously, we let our past failures and mistakes sabotage our current goals.

A good way to determine if you have hidden negativity creeping into you thoughts is to write down your fitness goals. And this is just what you should do.

Write a complete description of how you want to see your body at the end of a full 30 days. Don’t skip any of the parts.

Write down exactly what you want, and keep an eye out for any verbiage that you could construe as negative. Wherever you see it, get rid of it. Keep those thoughts positive no matter what.

Keep in mind that your goals do not only have to be outwardly physical. You can also have goals of better internal health, or even a boost to your metabolism.

Lists help more than most people realize. By putting something in writing, it makes it concrete, real, and this helps the brain believe that it is possible. It helps to “put it on the right track” so to speak.

Take some time to go and make your list. I’ll be waiting when you get back…

Are you finished already?

Great, now we can continue.

Look at the following statements written by someone who does not know how write positive, affirming statements. Let’s see how your list compares to his, shall we…

• Face – My face is excessively fat. I hope at least to see my cheekbones by the end of this exercise.
• Facial Features – Everything else looks okay, I suppose. At least earlobes don’t get fat!
• Neck – I’m tired of looking at that double (or is it triple now?) chin. I hope to slim that down.
• Chest – This body part is embarrassingly flabby and doughy. It would be nice to get some hardness in that area.
• Arms – The triceps and biceps are soft and undefined. I would like to see some definition so I can tell where one muscle ends and the other begins.
• Abs – Do they even exist under that layer of fat? I’ll be lucky to see any results here, but I can always hope. I wish there were an easier way to increasing my metabolism!
• Legs – They aren’t too bad, at least in comparison to the rest of my body. I’d still like to see more definition though.
• Buttocks – Right now, it’s all flab and fat. I’d like to add some muscle and tone the area.
• Back – At least I don’t see it very often! I think it needs more muscle tone.

You can see from reading the above list that this guy doesn’t have the greatest self-esteem or faith in himself.

Are you like this?

A person with these thoughts creeping into his brain is bound to fail.

The good news is that even if you are, I can show you how to get rid of all of those negative feelings and how to succeed in all of your fitness goals.

Now that you know what to not do, take a look at a list written by someone who knows exactly how to get the most out of their visualization statements. Notice how positive and affirming the statements are.

• My face will be more chiseled and I will see my cheekbones.
• My neck will be tapered and proportionate.
• My legs will be strong and well defined.
• My abs will be well defined.
• I will have a strong core.
• My arms will be tight, thick, and strong
• My chest will be strong, powerful, and hard.
• My back will show that “V” taper.
• My body will feel healthier internally
• I will feel better about myself, knowing that I can accomplish whatever I desire.

Reread this list. See how it differs from the list earlier in the article, the one where the man constantly lamented being fat? Keeping positive in this manner will keep you on the right track, and you will be sure to reach all of your fitness goals.

I’m positive of it.
